How do I know if I have gestational diabetes?
Between the 24th and 28th weeks of pregnancy, you will undergo an OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) to screen for gestational diabetes.

First, your fasting blood glucose level will be tested. Then, after drinking a solution containing 75g of glucose, your blood glucose will be tested again after 2 hours. Your doctor will diagnose gestational diabetes based on the results of this test.

In addition, if you have any of the following risk factors, your chances of developing gestational diabetes during this pregnancy are higher:
Pre-pregnancy BMI over 27
A history of gestational diabetes in a previous pregnancy
Having diabetes or prediabetes before pregnancy
Previously giving birth to a baby weighing over 4kg
With proper support from healthcare professionals, gestational diabetes can be well managed. This includes:
Guidance from a dietitian to adjust your diet
Regular self-monitoring of blood glucose levels
Scheduled follow-ups with your obstetrician
